Three devices sit on the shelf under almost the same name, the Argus G2, the Argus G2 mini and the Argus G2 mini+. They share Voopoo’s pods and power range, but not the screen, the battery or the size. For a first pod kit, that difference matters more than it seems. This guide sets the three manufacturer spec sheets side by side, point by point, and shows which model suits which kind of use.

Argus G2 or a mini version, the short answer

The classic Argus G2 is the only one of the three with a colour screen and three power modes. It suits anyone who wants to see the wattage and the detected resistance, and to learn how their kit is set up. The mini and mini+ swap the screen for a simple battery light and carry a larger battery, 1200 mAh for the mini and 1500 mAh for the mini+.

Put simply, the screen is for learning and the battery is for peace of mind. Vaping360 places the Argus G2 among intermediate pod kits, since you choose your own wattage, while still finding it easy enough to pick up.

The three Argus G2 models side by side

Voopoo publishes a spec sheet for each model. The figures below come from those sheets, unrounded, for the standard device and for the contents of the UK box.

Two rows really separate the models, the display and the battery. The mini+ is 8 mm longer than the mini and carries 300 mAh more, and both mini versions are slimmer than the classic G2.

What the Argus G2 screen offers a beginner

On the Argus G2, the screen shows the wattage, the detected resistance and a puff counter. On a first adjustable pod kit, that is a useful guide. You can see straight away whether the wattage sits inside the pod’s range, and a pod change can be checked at a glance.

Three modes instead of one setting

The classic G2 offers three modes. Super aims for the fullest flavour, Smart is the standard setting, and Eco reduces power and e-liquid use, according to Voopoo’s description. The spec sheets for the mini versions do not mention these modes.

The downside, a busier device

The screen and menus take some learning, and the zinc alloy body is the thickest of the three. A beginner who would rather not adjust anything may find the mini more straightforward, since the only choices there are the pod and the airflow position.

Battery and charging, where the mini versions win

Voopoo claims three days of vaping on one charge for the Argus G2, without stating the usage behind that figure. The Vaping360 review gives a more concrete reference, with about 850 mAh actually usable out of the 1000 mAh stated.

On charging, the classic G2 accepts 2 A, and Vaping360 recorded a full charge in around thirty minutes at a measured current of 1.92 A. The same review confirms that you can vape while it charges. The mini versions charge at 1 A, half the current the G2 accepts, but their larger batteries mean fewer top-ups.

For anyone who charges rarely or often leaves the cable behind, the mini+ and its 1500 mAh are the most comfortable choice. For anyone who charges every evening, the gap matters less than the screen.

Which pod for which e-liquid, on all three models

All three devices take Argus pods, and the pod is what sets the draw. Choosing the model and choosing the pod are therefore separate decisions. Voopoo gives a wattage range for each resistance.

The 0.4 ohm pod runs from 18 to 30 W and aims at a restricted direct-lung draw, with a freebase nicotine e-liquid. The 0.7 ohm, rated from 14 to 18 W, is the most versatile, and it is the only pod supplied with the mini versions. The 1.0 ohm, from 10 to 14 W, sits at the tight-draw end with nic salt e-liquids.

On the mini versions, Voopoo describes airflow that runs from a tight mouth-to-lung draw to a restricted direct-lung draw. In the UK, nicotine-containing e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml and sold in bottles of no more than 10 ml, whatever higher figure some international listings quote. If you mix your own, our guide to e-liquid base covers the ratios worth knowing.

Pod capacity, the 2 ml version sold in the UK

All three international spec sheets list 3 ml pods. In the UK, refillable tanks and pods are capped at 2 ml, and Voopoo makes a TPD version with 2 ml pods for that reason. For the classic G2, that version is also slightly shorter, 116 mm against 121 mm. It is the version sold here, whichever model you choose.

FAQ

The questions that come up when choosing between the three models.

Do pods move from one model to another?

Yes. Voopoo states that its Argus pods are compatible with devices in the Argus family. Moving from a mini to a classic G2 does not mean buying new pods.

Is the mini+ bulky?

It measures 123 mm in its standard version, 8 mm longer than the mini and 2 mm longer than the classic G2. It stays slimmer than the latter, 13.4 mm against 15.2 mm thick.

Can you vape while it charges?

For the classic Argus G2, yes, according to the Vaping360 review. The spec sheets for the mini versions do not say.

Which model suits a tight draw?

All three do, since the draw depends mainly on the pod. A 1.0 ohm pod at 10 to 14 W, with the airflow barely open, gives the tightest draw in the range.

What does TPD on the box mean?

It refers to the version built to the rules that limit pods to 2 ml, the same cap that applies in the UK. It is the version to look for here.

Argus G2 or mini, choosing by screen and battery

The choice comes down to two points. The screen and modes of the classic G2 help you understand what you are adjusting, while the mini and mini+ rely on a larger battery and simpler use. The pods stay common to all three, and they are what sets the draw for your e-liquid.

For a first adjustable kit, the classic Argus G2 teaches the most, and the mini+ lasts the longest. If the device you pick ever refuses to switch on, the steps in our guide on what to do when a vape won’t turn on apply to this family too.
